It’s 1955 and all-female theatre company, the Pallas Players, are putting on a play...

They take us back to 1943 and the Scottish islands of Great Todday and Little Todday, where disaster has struck - the whisky supply has dried up because of the war and tensions are running high.

When a ship carrying 50,000 cases of whisky is wrecked just offshore it’s every islander for themselves as they try to outwit the Home Guard and get their hands on the precious cargo.

Inspired by a true story, Compton Mackenzie’s Whisky Galore was published in 1947 and  adapted into a popular Ealing comedy film in 1949.

This new adaptation from writer Philip Goulding is a tribute to the feisty, fearless, all-female touring theatre companies of the post-war years. Join the Pallas Players as they breathe fresh life into the hilarious characters of Compton Mackenzie’s novel.
