It is 4 years since Cast, Doncaster’s flagship theatre, first opened its doors, and since then it has quickly become Doncaster’s hub of cultural activity.

To celebrate the occasion, Cast sent out invitations to over 200 under 4 year olds from the local community, including nurseries and children’s centres, inviting them to a classic children’s birthday party.

Cast hosted a fun-filled two-hour party, featuring classic party games and music, jelly and ice-cream, two bouncy castles, story-telling and a collective sing-a-long of ‘Happy Birthday’ to the theatre. This was a free event, encouraging local families to come together and celebrate Cast and the work they do for families.

Sian Dudley, Head of Marketing and Communications at Cast, stated:

‘It was brilliant to get the opportunity to celebrate Cast’s success so far, alongside Doncaster’s brilliant and little ones. We believe in the importance of arts and cultural engagement at an early age, and the birthday party, as well as a positive and entertaining event, was a great opportunity for us to convey this message. We hope that everyone had a lovely time, and we look forward to welcoming more young people to Cast in the future.’

As part of the birthday party celebrations, Cast also launched their new Theatre Bug scheme, aimed at encouraging families to participate and attend events at the theatre by collecting stamps and receiving rewards. Theatre Bug booklets are free to collect from the Box Office at Cast.
