CAST LAUNCHES AUTUMN 18 / WINTER 19 SEASON

Cast, Doncaster’s flagship theatre has today announced its Autumn 18/Winter 19 Season in what promises to be an exciting year of world-class theatre for the charity.

The season opens with a series of performances which celebrate the theatre’s fifth birthday, inspired by ‘Made in Doncaster’.

Opening the Autumn with a bang is their annual outdoor extravaganza Arka (7 Sep), sure to knock the socks off Doncaster, followed by the world premiere of their Associate Artist Stand and Be Counted Theatre’s latest work, Where We Began (13 Sep).

The Autumn will also see the voices of local people brought to life with The Last Seam (19 Sep), a new play to mark the closing of Hatfield Colliery mine which, following four years of work in Doncaster will go on to be performed across the country as part of Cast’s very first touring production made in Doncaster.

Cast’s Second Space continues to be the home for something a bit different, with this season seeing a range of contemporary theatre, music and comedy.

Cast also hosts hundreds of local talented people who perform on its stages throughout the year and brighten the programme with the best that Doncaster has to offer.

Displacement and migration are ongoing themes throughout the programme, and reminds audiences that there’s more than one way to tell a story.

Deborah Rees, Cast’s Director comments:

‘Moving, life-affirming and often funny too, it’s so important that theatres continue to give voice to those behind the news headlines and statistics. So we’re really proud that modern issues of today are a part of our programme’

Cast’s participation programme continues to blossom with new projects for older people, those living with dementia, very young children, our local teenagers and families.

Christmas is Cast’s favourite time of year and the remaining seats for Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood are said to be selling fast.

Deborah Rees continues

‘We’re proud to present the UK’s only fully BSL integrated pantomime, and this year’s show promises to be the best yet. In our Second Space, Snow Play is an enchanting story for very young children and their families complete with a snowball fight! We hope you enjoy our Autumn/ Winter season and I look forward to welcoming you soon.’
