About A Midsummers Night's Dream

Award-winning Flabbergast Theatre bring a rambunctious approach to Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy

Goblins and Sprites run amok as the King and Queen of the Faeries settle a spat causing havoc among the humans caught up in their machinations.

The production follows on from Flabbergast’s stunning version of the tragedy of Macbeth and continues to develop their reputation for adapting classics in an innovative and refreshing way.

The action focusses on a troupe of players travelling with their beautiful vintage Haywain frantically multi-role-ing and bringing the world to life with joy and excitement.

Arcadian folk songs, slapstick comedy, and mask work combine with a respectful approach to the text, an irreverent attitude and a focus on storytelling to bring the magic of midsummer alive with physical comedy, song, and dance.

"A stunning production from a stellar and highly talented cast… real magic"

Behind the Arras

"Charm and genuine ebullience, true to the most innate impulses of theatre’s potential to entertain."

The Spy in the Stalls

"Like the characters, you’ll leave as though you’re waking from a dream and perhaps, in the words of Bottom, that you 'have had a most rare vision'"

Rest Less

"Splendidly imaginative… a fun, frivolous, fantastic and fast-moving celebration… irreverent, absorbing, compelling and thought-provoking"
