An Apology to Lady Gaga

"There was him. There was me. And there was Lady bl**dy Gaga."

When old schoolmates Matty and Tim reunite by accident at a gay club in Leeds, they set off on a Bad Romance of their own. Two years later, sharing a flat in Manchester (where all the Northern gays run off to), they’ve found their home in each other, yet something is amiss. 

Matty, who took longer to come out than he’d have liked, struggles to reconcile his shy upbringing in Leeds with the out-and-proud expectations of the young, gay, and Gen Z. For Tim, ready to live vicariously after years of hiding his devotion to Gaga and glitter, a question on whether to stay or go looms. And in the near future, two grooms prepare for their first dance together as husbands. 

Jumping between past, present, and future, from The Fame to Mayhem (and beyond), An Apology to Lady Gaga is a love story out of sequence, exploring queer northerners, pop culture, and the radical act of courage that comes before and after coming out.
