About Gerard Frain

Solo multi-instrumentalist songwriter from Doncaster

Following a 12 month break from live performance, Doncaster songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gerard Frain is back, this time with his first full band show to coincide with his self-produced debut album, Nowadays Malaise.

With Frain keeping full creative control during the entire production, Nowadays Malaise blends a unique mix of styles and experimentation, holding together as a single, reflective body of work. By playing most of the instruments himself, it's a personal statement shaped by modern life's unease and frustrations; with musical comparisons to his producer heroes, Emitt Rhodes and Paul McCartney.

''This will be my first show with a full band, so it feels extra special'', says Frain. ''As well as spending most of last year recording from my bedroom, I was also teaching myself piano. I stopped playing live to focus on that and I went off the radar to be a hermit for a bit - so it feels like I sort of disappeared entirely, but I've never been more musically active than I am right now. I feel like I've created something really special that I'm proud of, so Cast feels like a good place to start a career in music''.

With support from songwriter and guitarist Katie Spencer.
