Open Call: Scratch Night

Cast: Artist Open Call

For a brand new, upcoming Scratch Night

DEADLINE: Tuesday 3 September, 5pm

Cast are looking for submissions from artists and practitioners to fill slots in our upcoming Scratch Night.

What's a 'Scratch Night?'

A Scratch Night is a chance for theatre makers and practitioners to perform a work in progress in front of a live audience. It's a chance for you to be creative, inspired and to take risks with your projects! It's an opportunity for local makers to try something new, to put that idea you've had in the back of your head for years, into practise.

Cast's Scratch Night will take place on Thursday 24 October. Three companies/practitioners will get the chance to feature their work on stage in our Second Space.

What are we looking for?

  • New, work in progress, still in development performances, or a short sample of an 'almost complete' piece. Any genre, any artform, nothing is off limits.
  • Anything 30 minutes or less.

What are we NOT looking for?

  • Fully formed work that has previously toured or been performed in a professional venue.
  • Anything that requires heavy technical work.
  • This is NOT just for theatre makers. Got a cracking idea that you think people will love but not sure where it belongs? Apply anyway!

What will I, as a maker, get out of it?

  • The opportunity to perform in front of a live audience in one, 30 minute slot.
  • £200 fee.
  • Marketing support.
  • Free rehearsal space (2 days of rehearsal the week before the performance, but this can be negotiated)
  • 2 hours of tech support.
  • 1-1 meeting with our Associate Producer to chat touring, fundraising, producing - anything you might be itching to find out!

How do I apply?

Send either one side of A4 or a short video to rosie@castindoncaster.com, before 5pm on 3 September, with the below info included:

  • Who you are/what your project is called.(no more than 300 words)
  • A short bio about what you have done in the past.(no more than 300 words)
  • What you want to do/what your project is about. (no more than 300 words)

Spaces are obviously limited but Cast will ensure to get back to everyone who applies with feedback if they aren't successful.
