The Life I Lead starring Miles Jupp

A richly comic and moving tale of fathers and sons across the generations, THE LIFE I LEAD fills in the blanks behind a very well-known face.

Best remembered for playing Mr Banks in Disney’s classic film Mary Poppins, David Tomlinson, was renowned for playing the classic English gent, forthright, proper, and a loveable fool. His meeting with Walt Disney came to encapsulate his incredible life full of adventure and heartbreak.

The man who portrayed one of cinema’s most famous patriarchs was defined by his relationship with his own father – a remote eccentric, who was hiding an extraordinary tragicomic secret.

The Life I Lead sees Miles Jupp, one of Britain’s leading stand up comedians and revered actors (Mock the Week, The News Quiz, Rev, The Durrells) bringing David Tomlinson remarkable story to life.

Miles Jupp is an actor, comedian and writer. He started performing stand-up on the Scottish circuit in 2000, and the following year won both So You Think You’re Funny and The Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. He soon became a regular performer on both series of BBC Scotland’s Live Floor Show, and he was nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer award for his debut Edinburgh solo show Gentlemen Prefer Brogues.

Miles wrote the hugely successful BBC Radio 4 Sitcom IN AND OUT OF THE KITCHEN which was turned into a TV show also on the BBC.  Miles is also well known for his role of ‘Nigel McCall’ in the BBC series REV, in which he starred alongside Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Simon McBurney. He also starred in the second series of Sky’s series SPY.

Last year alone he appeared in ITV’s Bad Move starring Jack Dee, of which he has just shot the second series, HOWARD’S END on the BBC, the 2nd series of THE CROWN for Netflix, and is currently shooting series 4 of THE DURRELLS.
