Job Description
We are looking for talented young dancers to be part of the Junior Ensemble for our Christmas panto, Dick Whittington.
Skills required
- Aged 9 - 17 with dancing experience (ages apply for the start of the rehearsal process).
- Dance style: strong, technical and expressive Musical Theatre and Jazz dancers would be ideal. Classical and commercial training encouraged. We are looking for explosive, dynamic and intelligent dancers that have excellent ability but also, wonderful storytelling.
- The maximum time a performer can be in the ensemble is 3 times, please bear this in mind when applying.
- Confident with using facing expressions, and comfortable with acting and singing as part of a group.
- We are looking for young performers with a positive attitude, that can work with professionalism, and have the ability and stamina to sustain prolonged period of performance
- Commitment to ALL rehearsal/ performance dates. This is a short and intensive rehearsal period, and time off for comps will not be granted.
Selection Process
- Open Audition
- Closed audition by invitation only from candidates selected through the open audition process. This includes an informal interview.
Auditions
- Two one-hour group sessions for each group (9 - 12 and 13 - 17) – Tuesday 7 July 2026 and Thursday 9 July 2026 at Cast, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU
One closed audition call back session – Sat 18 July 2026 in the Dance Space
Sessions will consist of:
- A warm up
- Learning a technical jazz dance and sharing it back in smaller groups. Please bring your dance trainers and jazz shoes for this.
- Learning a short commercial combination and sharing it back.
- Drama game
