Doncaster based Orb Recruitment has today announced they are supporting the local economy, community, and the arts by giving a generous donation to Doncaster’s theatre, Cast.

Theatres and live performance venues have been hit particularly hard during lockdown, with no clear timescale for reopening, and with this donation, Orb Recruitment is helping to sustain the community work that Cast is still able to offer during this time.

Stewart Olsen, managing director of Orb Recruitment,  said: 'As a Doncaster company, we are very proud of the community we are a part of and do all we can as a business to support and champion the organisations in this area who truly make our town what it is.

Cast is not just a performance venue; it also does amazing work with the creative industries here in Doncaster and makes such a difference to the lives of local people. It’s been well documented how this sector has been particularly badly hit with the coronavirus pandemic, so I am really pleased to be able to support them with this donation, which I hope goes some way to helping them creatively inspire generations to come.'

Whilst unable to open for live performances, Cast, as a charity, has been continuing to work with local community groups and artists through digital and telephone-based projects, as well as providing arts activities for children and young people throughout the summer holidays.  Orb Recruitment’s support will allow Cast to continue developing innovative ways of using the theatre to benefit community projects.

Cast’s Director, Deborah Rees comments:

'We are hugely grateful that Orb Recruitment has chosen to support Cast at this time of uncertainty within our sector. This has been a difficult period for everyone in our community, and with the support of this kind donation, we hope to be able to continue working with our network of local artists and community groups to continue our mission of using performance to transform lives.

Orb Recruitment’s donation reflects the immense support we have received from the Doncaster community during this time. As a charity, local employer and venue of national significance, support from both individuals and businesses is vital to our survival'
