Whether you’re thinking of joining us for the first time, or getting excited about coming back we can’t wait to see you back in Cast, either in the theatre, taking part in workshops, or creating performances for our spaces.
There’s so much to get excited about this season. Work is well under way on our epic National Theatre Public Acts co-production of The Doncastrian Chalk Circle and we hope you’ll join us over the August bank holiday to share what the 80 strong, Doncaster community company have created. It promises to be an absolutely thrilling production filled with community spirit! Plus our work continues in our partnership with the Royal Opera House, visiting every school across the borough with world class ballet.
We’re really pleased to be sharing such a varied programme of music, drama and dance. First up music - Our spaces will be filled with an eclectic mix of folk, jazz and classical, sharing the best upcoming talent in the South Yorkshire Folk Showcase, right through to household names including Kiki Dee and Carmel Luggeri as well as Peter Knight and John Spiers. As we move to the dance programme, we’re delighted to be filling our stages with dance from many of our local dance and drama companies, back after two years, filling our stages with thousands of young people. Plus, we have the acclaimed Phoenix Dance Theatre who will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a phenomenal mixed bill. And let’s not forget Giovanni and Footloose!
We’re also delighted to welcome the brilliant Northern Broadsides with a As You Like It – a joyful production of a Shakespearean classic. Plus, in our second space we’ll be sharing some of the best contemporary work and new writing with Far Gone by John Rwoth-Omack, Children of the Night from Doncaster writer Danielle Philips and Hold On Let Go. If you’re interested in playwriting, whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, you can get involved with Script Works this spring.
Families are always welcome at Cast, we hope many of you will have joined us over the festive period with our widest offer yet, maybe even enjoying our family friendly area. There’s lots to look forward to this Spring with Izzy Gizmo, an Ensemble 360 Family Concert, Little Grimm Tales and something a bit spooky for the slightly older ones with True Ghost Stories.
Whatever you choose to see or take part in, we look forward to welcoming you this season.
